Career history:

Stavins is the Albert Pratt Professor of Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School, Director of the Harvard Environmental Economics Program, Director of Graduate Studies for the Doctoral Programs in Public Policy and Political Economy and Government, Co‑Chair of the Harvard Business School‑Kennedy School Joint Degree Programs, and Director of the Harvard Project on Climate Agreements. He is a University Fellow of Resources for the Future, a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a member of the Board of Directors of Resources for the Future, and an editor of the Journal of Wine Economics. He was elected a Fellow of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists in 2009. He was the Founding Editor of the Review of Environmental Economics and Policy, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, and the Board of Directors of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists. He was Chairman of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Economics Advisory Board, and Lead Author, Second and Third Assessment Reports, and Coordinating Leading Author, Fifth Assessment Report, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Professor Stavins' research has focused on diverse areas of environmental economics and policy, including examinations of: market‑based policy instruments; regulatory impact analysis; innovation and diffusion of pollution‑control technologies; environmental benefit valuation; policy instrument choice under uncertainty; depletion of forested wetlands; political economy of policy instrument choice; and costs of carbon sequestration. His research has appeared in hundreds of journal articles, popular periodicals, and several books. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Northwestern University, an M.S. in agricultural economics from Cornell, and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard. Prior to coming to Harvard, Stavins was a staff economist at the Environmental Defense Fund, and a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa.

Career history:

Eija-Riitta Korhola is a specialist in communication and consultancy in EU-affairs. She has more than 15 years of experience in European lawmaking, especially in the field of energy, climate, environment and the internal market. Having written and defended her doctoral thesis on climate politics (The Raise and Fall of the Kyoto protocol – Climate Change as a Political Process) she has a unique combination of academic research and political decision-making. Prior to becoming an MEP she worked with development aid, journalism and business consultancy. She is a professional board member in companies concentrating on clean tech.

He is a lead author of Third, Fourth and Fifth Assessment Report of Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC). He has written many books and articles including Climate Change Mitigation, A Balanced Approach to Climate Change, Springer, London (2012) (Editor & Co-author), Co-author of e-book Towards a Workable and Effective Climate Regime to be published by Ferdi and CEPR prior to COP-21, Paris (2015). He also frequently writes articles to leading Japanese newspapers on climate change.

Helen is seconded to the WBCSD from the Sustainability and Climate Change practice at PwC. She leads the Low Carbon Technology Partnerships initiative (LCTPi) which brings together over 140 companies and 50 partners to accelerate the development of low-carbon technology solutions that can help limit global warming to below the 2C ceiling. Previously, Helen was the technical assistance manager for the Africa region for the Climate and Development Knowledge Network. A 7-year, £140 million donor funded initiative that supports climate and development policy change in developing countries.  Helen holds an MSc from Imperial College London and has worked with a wide range of clients including the World Bank, UNFCCC, UK DFID and the private sector.

Career history:

Mr. Toyoda began his career in 1973 in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). He was appointed Director General of the Trade Policy Bureau in 2006 and was made Vice Minister for International Affairs in 2007. Mr. Toyoda played a leading role in negotiating for concluding Kyoto Protocol and represented Japanese government numerous times including COP 13 in Bali as a Vice Minister. Today, he is active in the field of energy and climate change as Chairman and CEO of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ). Mr. Toyoda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Tokyo University, and gained an M.A. in Public Affairs in 1979 from Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
