Career history:
Graduated from ESCP business school (Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris) in 1982, Vincent Mages has been working in the publishing sector with international sales responsibilities before joining Lafarge in 1988. Within Lafarge, Vincent Mages has occupied various positions in France and in Japan, in the cement, in the aggregates and in the gypsum activities, in marketing business development and strategy. Before becoming the Climate Change Initiatives VP in October 2006, Vincent Mages was Group Internal Communications VP.

State and barriers for CO2 emissions reductions in cement sector
Career history:
Philippe Fonta has over 25 years of experience with private companies, working in cooperation with international institutions, policy-making bodies and non-governmental organizations. He occupied several leading functions within Airbus, one of the two major aircraft manufacturers, including the one of Director of Environment and Head of Sustainable Development. In this role he also occupied the responsibility of chairman of the environmental committee of the International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industry Associations(ICCAIA), which is the official observer to the UN aviation-specialized standard- and policy-making agency.
Since March 2011, Philippe is now bringing his technical engineer’s background and his experience in economic scenarios and international cooperation to the cement sector, leading the WBCSD’s CSI. The CSI is a global effort currently driven by 25 major cement producers with operations in more than 100 countries, who believe there is a strong business case for the pursuit of sustainable development. The CSI work program covers a broad agenda, covering subjects like climate change, local air quality, water, biodiversity, health and safety to name a few.
Philippe represents CSI and its members in major international events.

Career history:
- Dr. Handoo is a Ph.D in Physics with more than 38 years of professional experience in R&D at National Council for Cement & Building Materials (NCB) and as Advisor Technical at CMA since March 2011.
- Dr. Handoo represents CMA on all technical matters related to Environment, Energy, Standards, etc. with the concerned authorities of Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, besides Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), etc.
- He has over 65 Research Publications in the National and International journals, Seminars, Conferences to his credit, contributed to two Books on Cement Research Progress besides having three Patents.
- Dr. Handoo has participated in several international exchange programmes, undertaken study visits to several organizations, in SE Asia, Europe, America, Russia, China, etc. for delivering invited lectures, and presentations at International Seminars, Conferences, besides being a part of Indian delegation to European Cement Plants for increasing AFR Usage in Indian Cement Industry, to India-Japan Workshop on PAT Implementation.
- He has been Member of a number of Committees on Working Groups for XII Five Plan (2012-17) for Ministry of Mines, Power, Industry, Planning Commission (Green Processes), Government of India, BEE’s Sectoral Expert Committee on – PAT Scheme, Steering Committee of Quality Council of India (QCI) for RMC.
- He is also Member BIS Committee on Cement and Concrete CED-2, Member – Research Advisory Committee of NCB, besides Convenor of CMA Technical Committee and on the Editorial Board of CMA Journal on Cement, Energy and Environment.

Research activities of the European Cement Research Academy (ECRA) Academic Chair at the University of Mons on CO2 capture and reuse applied in the cement industry
Career history:
Graduated Chemical Engineer in 1991 at the Faculty of Engineering of Mons (Belgium), Diane Thomas presented her PhD in Applied Sciences in 1996 thanks to a fellowship of the National Fund for Scientific Research of Belgium. After carrying out research activities under different positions, since 2011 she is Professor in the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Mons (UMONS).
She is also the Academic Coordinator of the ECRA Academic Chair at UMONS, in collaboration with the European Cement Research Academy on the subject of CO2 capture and reuse applied in the cement industry.
Prof. Thomas is the director of several PhD Theses, Master Theses and Projects. Her main education and research activities are related to the chemical engineering processes (unit operations like reactive absorption, adsorption, distillation; chemical reactors), environmental processes mainly flue gas treatments (deNOx, deSOx, dedusting techniques), catalytic processes, etc.
Prof. Thomas is involved in several industrial and international research programs on both CO2 capture and reuse, waste water treatments and VOC abatement technologies.

Eric Masanet is Head of the Energy Demand Technology Unit at the International Energy Agency, where he oversees technology analyses for the global industrial, transport, and buildings sectors. He has 15 years of experience analyzing industrial energy technology trends and policies, most recently as an Associate Professor at Northwestern University (USA), and, before that, as a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA).
He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

In 1976, after finished master’s course of industrial chemistry department of Tokyo University, entered Onoda Cement Co., Ltd.(now Taiheiyo Cement Corporation) Mostly worked at R&D Center and served as General Manager of R&D Center from 2008 to 2012. Managing Executive Officer form 2012 to 2014 and present position in 2015.
A vice president of The Ceramic Society of Japan and The Society of Inorganic Materials from 2013 to 2015, now a vice president of Japan Concrete Institute.
